Application of Liquid Decal Film

What is the best way of applying Microscale Liquid Decal Film to custom, ink printer printed, decals?
Has anyone tried spraying it using an airbrush?

I tried once before to apply it the way stated on the bottle, with a brush, and that smeared the ink out
That time in the end I used some advice from another post and just sprayed some Tamiya clear coat TS-13 over them.
Worked, but I think the decals were a bit too thick after this treatment and did not follow the contours of the parts perfectly.

i have never used it, but im sure others will shine in. I would spray them with a few mist coats first, then one or two heavier coats. I would also spray on scrap decals to see what happens.

i have only used a brush, i have never had ink run but it is hard to not get streaks in the film (does not dry flat).
i cannot see why you could not use an air brush, this is how i was planning to use this product in the future.
if in doubt maybe email microscale?

I have only applied it by brush so far. With a big brush, to cover much area in one stroke. If you do it carefully, you can disribute it in a nice even way. You shouldn't use more than 2 immidiate strokes with the brush, more will smear the ink.
If you want the decal to shine, you should apply it onto the painted surface (after the treatment with LDF, and cover everything with gloss clear.

Introduced all visiting friends and family to beautiful Bamberg !

Tick coat with a brush.

Every time I tried with an airbrush, the result cracked in the water, no matter how many coat I did.

I use a big, soft brush that I keep only for this task. The bristles are probably 5 cm long.

JOhan my way to work with custom made decals is this:
Ater printing I apply ts-13 as protective (or any other syntetic not water soluble glossy medium, but before make test to see if they are not too aggressive. The one sold in citygross is perfect btw..).
when all is dry, better after 2/3 days u can threat with everything to softenr it. BMF film is quite hard so I use gunze decal film,instead of microscale.

Make some test of course before use it seriously on a model.
