Re: Meanning of FIAT
Just saw the thing about an X1/9 with a special engine.
Sounds a bit strange, as the X1/9 was made with the standard 128-engine, which must be one of this worlds most common engines. I do not think any important parts in the mentioned model differs from standard, but it might have some added anti-pollution gadgets in the US? (If so, these parts would probably just be a few extra carburettor detalis and small hoses added.....) But basically I think you should be able to replace all kind of bearings, gaskets, pistons with standard 128-parts. Ehh, write off a Fiat if crashing at 60 km/t? -I managed to do a writeoff of an 1978 X1/9 at 10 km/t...hmm... |

Re: Meanning of FIAT
It was the Bertone(however you spell that) edition
And he wrecked it doing 90 into a tree! Just screwed up the front bumper, radiator, blinkers, and some other type of cooler. He kinda tried doing a 180 doing over 100mph using the E-brake, but he turned the wrong way. Stupid oh well! I'm trying to help him get it back on the road.

bruces parts bin www.fiatparts.com..
BTW,,, that x aint doing 150 downhill with a strong wind to its back... Sorry but its not happening! The bertone was not a special x... they were all made by bertone. Now my spider with forged pistons, oringed block, turbo, intercooler, and fuel injection wont do no 150.. least not in mph. Even so I would guarentee it'll smoke your x. |

It would translate into something like "Italian Automobile Works - Turin". For all you jokers out there: I have a 1992 Fiat Tipo 1.4 with 242.000 km. NEVER broke down, normal maintenance, runs like new and is still capable of ashaming a lot of comparable modern cars (like VW Golf 1.4 and Peugeot 307 1.4). I just LOVE their driver's surprised faces! Did you know a lot of the modern technologies were developped by Fiat? Direct Injection and Common Rail, for instance? Did you know who made the firs MPV? No, not Nissan, not Renault, it was Fiat 600 Multipla, in the sixties. The MPV spirit was there! Do you know Fiat makes robots used to produce a lot of other makers cars, including japanese cars? Fiats are good cars and, if you take minimal maintenance care, reliable and tough. I have a lot of friend who have VW, Audi, BMW - all of them laugh at my Fiat. I when I see their workshop bills! |

Re: Re: Meanning of FIAT
Fiat is a very good make. Today alas, they have a range which is a little bit too shy. But the Panda II and Idea are very good cars. Though, we are waiting for the new Croma, hoping that it will be a success, like a Laguna, a 3series, a 407 or a Passat.
I'm currently in Italy, in Torino, for 6 months and there are many Fiat here. Your Tipo 1.4 could be comparated to a 307 1.6 or a Golf 1.6 because these new cars are more heavy.

Come on, surely after all these years of "Fix it again Tony" you guys would have had to come up with something better, or is there really that big a vacuum in car enthusiast creativity?
Fix it again Tony?? Ahahahahahahaha thats the funniest thing I ever heard I prefer: Fast Italian and Topless (good for Spider owners) or: Ferrari In Affordable Trim (for X1/9s) Anyway to the gentleman who was looking for X parts, try here: http://www.network54.com/Forum/112729 Peace, -Mac |
