That's a VERY good deal...usually a Delorean will go for around $20K, and a car in that condition with that history for that price is really good...

I've seen better deals...

I like the fact that the electrical has been "upgraded", but you will never be able to get big $ in the future. Any mods done to the DMC tend to turn off collectors.

Not a big deal if you're buying it just for yourself, though...

My first DMC was 99%stock, and DMC enthusiasts would tell me stupid things like, "Hey, your tires aren't original!" No kidding, you idiot! The original tires would be 20 years old and hard as a rock.

I got tired of the extreme collector types, and decided to get another DMC12. This one is heavily modded because I want it that way. I am not concerned with resale or winning Concours trophies. I concerned with having fun and beating some ricers:sun:

0-60 in about 7 seconds. Sure the 1981 Lamborghini was faster, but the DMC was never meant to compete with the muscle/supercar crowd. It rules in the "driving pleasure" category.

I recently test-drove a 2001 Honda S2000. With all the race-talk, I thought the car would kick a**. It was good, but no Lambo. The same could be said for the DMC. The stock performance is good, but remember that the Jet-Set cars of 1981 were the Mercedes 380SL and such... hardly the WRX's of 2002!

With the twin turbo kit option, the time was going to be 4.5 seconds (but DMC went out of business). Here is a photo of the prototype:

The bottom line for me was: What other car can I get that handles like a Lotus, performs like an S2000, mantains like a Volvo, and looks like a million dollars... for under $12K?

Question Twin turbo for sale

Speaking of performance... does anyone know of a twin turbo for sale? I am looking to upgrade my engine.
