Trying to get codes

Hey I’m new to Corsica but tryin to help a friend with an 88 v6. It starts good when cold and so on so forth gets warm won’t start! I went to the Haynes book it sent me to the ALCL under the steering shell to put a jumper wire on two terminals to ground it in order to get codes. It not working anyone got anything about this? Haynes don’t show what it what on the terminal and I tried all 4 on the connector

Re: Trying to get codes

Easy to find, just google how to find obd1 codes without a scanner.

Re: Trying to get codes

Just because it's not startng when warm doesn't mean you have any codes.

Well it seemed like the best place to start, it could be ignition, fuel, perhaps vac related. That's why I was asking if anyone had any input

Re: Trying to get codes

Well I can tell you if the CEL isn't lit, then you don't have any codes.

I can almost guarantee it is not vac related. The best place to start is to do actual diagnosis when it is not starting. Find out what is missing.

Ground A to B....turn key to on, don't start....know how to read the flashes?

But agree with Stealthee....when it won't start, check for spark, fuel pressure and injector pulse....
