I was interested in this OBDII scan type hookups and then the vehicle bus comm system which can be affected in a bad way.

these devices should have an approved certification by the vehicle manufacturers.

Re: 2014 Silverado parasitic drain?

Just wanted to follow up. I spoke to the person whom I was helping with this module spiking power while the truck was off. He told me the tech that installed the new unit for him tested the old one first. While I watched the amp meter for an hour, he put a data logger on it. Sometimes that module would stay on for 30 to 45 minutes. So he replaced it and and we haven't heard a thing since.

thank you for the info.
this is a problem with these devices as they do mess up , and also may not be compatible with the newer vehicles as the electronics changes and can get these to turn on when they are not supposed to ..
the products must be tested for specific models and year of manufacture.
