Powered lift gates on new cars.
Many new cars have powered liftgates that people can open and close at a touch of a button. A few cars let you use your foot to open the liftgate. If someone puts something that is too long into the car and the liftgate can't close, will the motors be damaged?

Re: Powered lift gates on new cars.
I have a Ford Edge. The power liftgate will reopen if it strikes a object or senses
a obstruction. But you can close it down manually. I suggest you read the cars manual because they are all different. |

All that I've encountered from multiple different makes function like Mrbizness1 describes, which is very similar to how an automatic garage door opener functions.
