transmission overdrive in and out

My 96 pathfinder's auto transmission overdrive cycles on and off
on the interstate. Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Is the check engine on? Mine was floating between gears when my TPS (throttle position sensor) was out of adjustment but it also gave me A/T gear ratio errors. How's your transmission fluid level and condition?

When you replaced the TPS did you go through the adjustment procedure?

Re: transmission overdrive in and out

Hey anyone figure this out? I have a 96 and it's doing that to but its only when its cold. I leave my heat off it has no problems but when its on at all it does it! And when its cold it takes awhile to shift into OD anyways. I just changed the tranny fluid 2 months ago.

I fixed the problem in mine by disconnecting the gearbox temperature sensor at the computer end. It is a problem with the sensor. Hope this helps
