'97 K1500 No 4WD, no lights on switch

I've been searching through the past posts, but I'm not exactly finding any information that pertains

4WD Issue...
1997 Silverado Z71 5.7L 4L60E
Engine/Trans/T-case from a 1998
... When I turn the key, all 3 LEDs in the 4WD switch cycle during the self test. Then the go black. I cannot switch into 4WD. When I push a button, nothing happens. No lights blinking. Nothing.

I have checked the fuses. I have been underneath looking for broken wires.
I'm sure there are 50 things that could be wrong, but I'm hoping someone has experienced this issue and can tell me what they did so I can try it. I'm hoping to not replace 7 parts only to realize that it was an easy fix all along.

I just replaced the front axle actuator and it didn't change my situation. Nothing is working yet.

Winter is upon us and I'll be needing the 4WD to work. It was functioning last winter with no problems and the ONLY thing that I can think of that I might have done was water logged something. We had some pretty good flooding going on this summer and I decided that slamming through flooded intersections was a good idea. That cost me $100 worth of new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. Things did not look pretty.

Fuses: All in the Instrument Panel box.
4WD 20A, ILLUM 10A, TCASE 20A, GAUGES 10A. Pull them all, test and reset them.

With the key in the RUN position (ENGINE OFF) have someone monitor the 4wd lites while you wiggle and mess with the connectors and harness at the encoder and motor on the t-case.

With the key OFF pull both connectors. Check and clean the pins and reseat.

Your blast thru the flood may have fried the TCCM.

Good luck to you.

I've pulled every fuse to check them.

I've swapped the encoder motor (twice). Now I have the 2WD light in the switch on, but nothing else happens when pressing the 4HI or 4LO buttons. So, progress... a little. At least I have ONE light

Where is the TCCM located?

Run a diagnostic test on the TCCM.
1. Ground pin 13 on the data link connector.
2. Turn key to the RUN position.
3. Count the number of times the shift buttons blink. (1 to 4)

If you have to redo it make sure the key stays off for at least 6 seconds.

The TCCM is located under the instrument panel close to the convenience center.

Thumbs up Re: '97 K1500 No 4WD, no lights on switch

I don't know if you have solved your problem yet? I ran across the following youtube video which was very helpful. Fixed my issue with my 1998 K1500 that was having similar issues, that only applied to the inoperative selector switch. The switch repair cured all problems and only took 30 min. to remove, repair and replace the original switch.

https://youtu.be/lgKwO-s25gA

If the link doesn't get you there, just search Youtube for the video titled "98 gmc chevy and blazer 4X4 switch repair" its only 2:46 in length. Great information though.

Good Luck
