Opening tailgate on dead RR
Does anyone know how to open the tailgate of a P38 when its dead? I mean junkyard dead.
I stumbled onto a pair of P38's in a local junkyard (lucky me!) and there are some things that I would like to "revive" onto my own. (The one I have has basically every piece of plastic trim and other things broken or missing). We couldn't get the tailgate or the rear window opened on either one of the cars and I want to take the third light assembly and the brackets for the rear light guards off of one and some other things from the other. Is there a way to open these even if the battery is not there? We tried hooking up a battery to one of them but it still didn't budge. So far I got lucky (thank God). I hope you don't think I'm bragging or anything like that, but I bought (technically my wife gave me for our 24th anniversary) the following: loadspace cover, plastic covers (the one over the subwoofer and the corresponding right side cover), plastic finishers for front seat armrests, rear lamp guards (one has a little break, glueable), one of the center caps for the wheels, and OEM clarion radio. All for $205 US! About the radio, I press BND and power and it works great for ~3 minutes. I got the code from LR and the unit does not want to accept it. Any suggestions? |
