Transmission Not Enagaging - Intermittant

Hi ppl

I have a 2000 Legacy 2.5 Auto and recently had some weird experiences.

I turn the car on and when I select drive or first (in fact any forward gears) nothing happens. If I select reverse it engages correctly.

After turning the car on and off a couple of times it seems to fix the problem and engages as normal.

This has happened three times now recently.

Any idea's what's going on?

Cheers

MuddyMan

Hi. I was searching for answers for my car problem and I found your post.

My 2000 Subaru Legacy is doing the same thing as yours was. I was just wondering what you figured out about yours??
