The New 2005 Volvo S40
You like it? I think it needs a big style change, and I like what Volvo has done to change the S40.
Compliments of Road&Track Magazine: Following up after the very successful launch of Volvo's first SUV, the hot-selling XC90, the Swedish carmaker will introduce this all-new S40 sports sedan at the upcoming Frankfurt auto show. And with this car taking on a very stylish, sporty new look, Volvo may just have another hit on its hands. A most notable design element with this next-gen S40 is the sculpted shoulder line that starts at the front of the car between the headlights and grille and is carried across the beltline all the way back to the taillights. This same design characteristic appeared on our recently wrapped-up long term Volvo V70 T5 wagon test car and was universally applauded by every editor for transforming Volvos from boxy to foxy. The more rounded folds in the bodywork make the car look more modern. The small rear wing, side skirts and aggressive but stylish five-spoke wheels make the car look like its ready for battle in the British or European Touring Car Championships. Two engines will be available: a 170-horsepower 5-cylinder will be included in the base S40 while the upgraded T5 edition will feature a 220-horsepower turbocharged version. The new S40 will be available stateside in early-to-mid 2004. Prices have yet to be announced, but expect little to no price increase from the current car's approximately $25,000 to $28,000 range. |

The safest in the world. Like Jaguar, Volvo is good at designing their automobiles, yet their quality ain't quite the best but theyre going up hill pretty drastically.

Safe!!, Fast!, Stylish
But UNCOMFORTABLE AS HELL Oh man, get into the driver's seat, you feel so awkward, so distant with the car. I was very disappointed. |
