'92 Sunbird SE EGR Valve??
The car will accelerate as long as you ease in to it...but will only reach about 65 mph top end. If you try to accelerate fast or try to accelerate after reaching upper speeds...car will spit and sputter. Where is the EGR valve and the mass air flow sensor located?? Could this be the problem or could it be a vaccume issue??

Hi, what is litre size of engine? How long since a tune-up? Are there any codes? Picture of egr valve is in attachment. I wouldn't throw parts at it. Just my opinion.

Re: '92 Sunbird SE EGR Valve??
You should be able to access some codes, yourself. You place a jumper wire between A & B terminals of datalink connector. Turn key just till dash lites come on, no further, then the mil starts flashing. You count the flashes to get the codes. Your looking for two digit codes. The picture is generic GM obd1 connector, the only purpose, is to show location of A & B terminals.
I just wanted to add, 4 cylinder, 3 speed auto, normally aspirated, has no get up and go. |

Re: '92 Sunbird SE EGR Valve??
Thanks for your help... after further investigation and head scratching... we found the catalytic converter was plugged!!!! Punched it out...runs better than the day we bought it!!! While under the vehicle...we found the sway bar end links were also bad...along with a busted belt on the passenger side front tire.... we paid $850 for the car just a year ago...it had 85,400 miles on it.... other than a fuel line and 4 used tires... its the 1st money we've had to put into it.... Great Little car!!!
