Power Door Lock Switches / Issues

Car: 2008 Pontiac g5.

Problem: Power Door Lock Switches / Issues
- Driver side power door lock switches completely dead.
Will not lock nor unlock driver or passenger doors locks.

- Passenger side power door lock works intermittently, sometimes not at all, and sometimes it will work but immediately reverses its action when the button is let go of.

Troubleshooting:
Checked fuse and related fuses, and all the fuses seem fine.
All other switches work fine: power windows on both doors, and rearview mirrors.

Resolution:
Intend to replace the power door lock switches on each door.

Questions:
- I am trying to locate both the correct part numbers(if that matters when ordering after market and not GM).
What part numbers do I need to have, if any specifically?

- I believe the switches are different for the drivers side and then passengers side,
is this correct?

- Where do you recommend purchasing the switches from?
I prefer brand new vs a salvage yard for this specifically.

Alot of parts places sell the dorman brand. Do a google search for the dorman part number. You may find it cheaper.

I have in fact seen the Dorman brand pop up on about every search I have done.
To be honest, I find it hard to find other OEM manufactures of this part.
The price seems to vary quite a bit, and I do not currently understand why the wide gap in pricing.
This unless it is a shipping charge issue, where the lesser charge is then compounded by an overcharge on shipping, as commonly seen on Ebay.

If they both acted up at the same time, I doubt it's the switches......do not have a schematic, but if they are controlled by a BCM, that's where my diagnosis would start.......you would need a schematic, and check the input and out put from the switches.....if ok, and you power and reverse power the circuits to the actuators, and they work, then it's likely a BCM.....other possibility is a bad ground, if it is common to all the switches....

Access to a scan tool, like a Tech II, would tell you right away....

It happened to each door around the same time frame, not at the eact same time.
I believe the passenger side door lock switch was working fine for a while after the drivers side door lock switch went out on me.

I had a bad habit of leaving my windows open.
I think it rained inside my car a couple of times and after that is when I began having issues.

If it is the actuator, what exactly does that do, where exactly is it, and how do I replace it?
I did check all of my fuses in the BCM and ECM (I guess that is what it is called). All were fine.

What concerns me is not the price difference.
What I noticed in the description of both Door Lock Switches is this statement on the Carid website: Not Master Switch.
I interpret that to mean that when operating either switch, it only unlocks that specific door, and not both doors.

My current Door Lock Switches for both driver and passenger side did in fact lock and unlock all doors.
The JC Whitney website does not have a description, and it appears these are the exact same Door Lock Switches.
I would want the replacement Door Lock Switches to perform exactly as the original.

Looking at a 2006 schematic, remove your door lock switch, either one...disconnect the harness....attach your ohm meter to the two terminals...press lock, should read zero ohms, press unlock, should read 1500 ohms...

These are Alps switches, and are repairable. Opening the switch would reveal any damage. Very often the switch contacts can be saved, cleaned, and re-greased and returned to service.
