Wants to know more about the chaser
Sorry about my ignorance, is the chaser related to any of the toyota/lexus vehicles here in NA? for example, IS = Altezza.
I am a big four door fan and have heard a lot about the chaser. I would like to learn more about it. thanks in advance for replying. |

chaser is a sporty sedan car that was offered by toyota of japan. the the chaser was abolished and replaced with the altezza
so it isnt sold in america because they dont make it and also because the is300 replaced it. other then that, the chaser was very similar to the is300. however it was a little bigger. there was two types toyota offered. soarer-s and soarer-v. the soarer-s version had 200hp and the soarer-s had 280hp. both versions are rear wheel drive layout. tuners in japan has made it capable of having 600+hp. but those are just the tuners who wanted to make the sedan race in the highway street races. the chaser is used mostly for driving. if you go to those drift meets in japan you would see a good amount of chasers because they have a rear wheel drive layout car. so basically the chaser is an older version of the altezza. hope that helps a tad bit

They have the same engine as a soarer which is the 1JZ-GTE 2.5L twin turbo.
There is the JZX90 which was made from 92-96 and JZX100 model which was made from 1996 to current. Yes they still make em. Dunno what border project is talking about. Sicmor's pic is a JZX100 as afr as I know. Those things where u said soarer-S etc etc is actually Tourer-S and Tourer-V. TourerV is from the JZX100 era and was the twin turbo engine. U may have also heard of Chaser Mark II which I believe is the JZX90. Awesome car. Just about to become available in Australia. And Border Project, yes I do believe the Chaser is mostly used for driving. =) LOL |

to border project
actually i think u got the trim levels rong, the toyota soarer is actually a lexus SC430 or SC400 here in NA, so the real trim levels of the old chaser is the Tourer S and Tourer V, and if any 1 needs more fotos, jus look under google or alta vista under "chaser" or "toyota chaser"

The current shape Chaser is designated as the JZX110, and is in current production.
This vehicle was for local market only and has not been designated for export. The Chaser series comes in several packages and is a derivative of the Cresta and Mark II vehicles The Chaser comes in twin turbo in the JZx90 series same as the Soarer TT, the 100 is the 2.5 6 cylinder single turbo or 1 JZ engien series, and the JZx110 uses the JZX100 setup The JZX101 Chaser uses a 3 litre non turbo engine, or 2JZ engine, from the Aristo and non turbo supra run The top of the line Chaser series is the TRD Sports sedan version model, which comes with full aerokit and High wing at the back. This model is for hamologation for the JTCC series 4 door sedan touring car racing |

Great info guys, very knowledgeable people here. One thing to add though, I dont know much about the Chaser being an older IS, however I do know it was the continuation of what we called the Cressida. Even earlier than what you guys are talking about the JZX81 is the exact copy of our older Cressidas, from that generation on the US and JDM vehicles started to diffirentiate greatly.

Toyota Chaser not only have Tourer V and Tourer S, they have 3000cc version (found in IS300, GS300), 2000cc (also found in Altezza, surprise!), 1800cc (a bit small 4 cylinder) and 2400cc turbodiesel (SOHC 8v Turbo, but no one want that) More interestingly, it has a 4WD version for snow areas in Japan (also suitable for Canada.. too bad it never been imported) altho it's targeted on domestic market only, it's not difficult to find one outside Japan, especially in Hong Kong! oh crap it is muh dream car... i wanna buy one... |
