Another headlight problem

I have a 2003 kia sorento with headlight issues. A couple of days ago the heater and headlights went out but the car kept running until I turned it off. It had blown the number 8 fuse in the car. It also blew the female fuse for the ignition in the engine compartment. I replaced the fuses started the car up and it immediately blows the ignition fuse again. Ive checked all the grounds and fuses. The parking lights work but I'm not getting power to the headlight relays and the heater isn't working. Does anyone have a clue what is going on here?

I would disconnect the ground at the battery. Unbolt the electrical center where the fuses are located on the side of the fender, look underneath for excessive corrosion or a broken wire touching a ground. If the headlights are off does the fuse blow? Make sure the wiper is shut off.

Re: Another headlight problem

Thanks for your reply so far I have traced the problem to the inside fusebox. It smells burnt and there isn't power to a couple fuses. I opened it up but can't really see the board. I can faintly see some of the solder isn't attached to the board. I am in the process of trying to find a new one. I'm going to hope that this is the only problem. I'll try to update when I get a replacement part and hopefully this will help someone else. Thanks

Re: Another headlight problem

After you pull the fuse panel I would try and remove the burned wires from one fuse at a time and install an inline fuse holder with the same amp fuse. From your information you will need two or three. This way you can be sure you found the problem before destroying another fuse panel. A couple fuses for the relays should be in the panel on the side of the front fender.
