95 525I- no power, strong sulfur smell

I have a 95 525I automatic. The car now idles rough and has no power when taking off from a stop. I have to push down hard on the accelerator pedal and when I do, the car will accelerate okay, but there is a strong smell like something is burning, and it kind of smells like sulfur or something. It just started doing this all at once it seems. It has been going on now for about 3 weeks or so. My gas mileage is also suffering greatly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Spark plugs or distributor. Start there.

Sounds like a catalytic converter is plugged.
