lot of things
ya....
greetins from Perú, i have readed almost all the message posted and i think i can help solving some questions. About changing the engine: it can be done, but get similar one if you don't want to make more changes. You can't put the Tib's 2.0 engine in the car without spending al least 3,000 in car mods, like a complete gearbox, flywheel, exhaust system and the "engine supports" (actually i don't know the english word). In the Excel to Accent engine change there's no much trouble because both are 1500cc engines, but a 2000cc makes more noises, more movements and need better "engine suspension" (to avoid too much vibration) and a better coolant system. About the Accent's performance: The accent is a subcompact, not an sport car. But the way it turns and the small punch that keeps under its hood make it a step before a lot of other similar cars. Despite the original 175/70 R13 that comes with the standard equipmente, its a really safe car in turns, but the brakes are awfull. They're not enought for the speed and the weight (its light, less than 900 kilos, but its fast too). At 186 kph the car moves like the Apollo turning back to the atmosphere (even with the mods i have made), so its a little scary to push it more. It can give you more, that's for sure, but the aerodynamics and the transmision (at that speed its almost reaching the red line in the Tach) bring you back to the reality. However, its a really fun car, to speed it up, to make the wheels scream, those are emotions the accent gives easily. About tuning: Something my ex girlfriend said: "to invest in your car is to lose your money". Yeap, its right, its money you'll never recover, at least if someone really really apreciates your work and pays for each mod the real value it cost to you. Another important thing: each car have been designed and built to work like a team, each piece for another. If you change one piece, the way the car works change in a complete way. If i change my 60/55 lights for a 90/100, now my lights need more power, the conection carries more energy and the system can overheat. My original 10 bucks inversion becames a bigger one, getting a "elevador" (to keep the orignal 12 V estable) for $ 60, better cables for $ 100 and a lot of stuffs. Tuning is starting and adventure, somethimes your car work better, other times you'll end like a real idiot, with a good looking car parked out of the highway, waiting for the mech, and a chick changing from the status "girlfriend" to "ex-girlfriend". About the Accent: dawm, its faster than the Toyota Tercel, its faster than the Nissan Sentra, faster than the Daewoo Lanos SE, faster than the Ford Escort, and even faster than some Civics, it has a good looking shape and a nice engine who loves to get high revs. japy weekend.
