Crane Cams V8 Series Heads to Roebling

Crane Cams V8 Series Heads to Roebling
by Bosco

The big noise makers of the Crane Cams V8 StockCar Series will head to Roebling Road Raceway just outside of Savannah April 26 &27 for the next round of the series. Roebling Road, a favorite of club racers in the south, requires a patient, rhythmic approach to get quickly through the backside and lots of horses to power down the one half mile long straightway. Many racers manage to get around the circuit in a competent manner but few really master it. The big GT-1 cars are capable of hitting 170 mph before driving deep into turn one.

In the GT-1 class the Racing Monette's, dad Bob, son Zach and daughter Paige Alexander will fly their well prepped rockets. Bob and Zach will be in Jaguar XK8's while Paige will be trying to do her part for the bowtie brigade in a beautifully turned out Corvette. Roebling regular Mark Davis will bring out his venerable Camaro. GT-2 will likely be a shootout between the Porsche's of John Maddox and Jay Romanowski. Maddox will be in his Troysport 911 with Romanowski in a GT3 Cup car.

2013 GTA Champ Randy Walker will bring out his Howe Racing built Camaro to battle Bill Porter in his Southeastern Marine Grand Prix, Hall Robertson in the Oxford Motorsports Monte Carlo, Jim Matheson in the Matheson Enterprises Grand Prix, Larry Corwin in the Corwin Racing Monte Carlo, Vern Smith in the Smith Motorsports Monte Carlo and Charlotte NC racer Mark Tcherkezian in a Monte Carlo.

In the SPO class Chapin South Carolina's Wayne Cabaniss in his C4 Corvette will duel with Jeff Ashley.

2014 has brought a new format to the V8 StockCar Road Racing Series. The series will employ a new schedule based around the SouthEast Division SCCA SARRC schedule. All 2014 SARRC races will also count for V8 StockCar points. This will include the 2014 SARRC Invitational Challenge, which will be held at Daytona International Speedway. The American Road Race of Champions at Road Atlanta will continue to be our finale and championship points race with triple points available.

The series will again have the same four classes but with some changes:

V8 GT-1 will follow SCCA GT-1 rules exclusively.

V8 GT-2 will follow SCCA GT-2 rules exclusively.

V8 GT-A will follow SCCA GTA rules exclusively.

V8 SPO Class will follow SE Division SCCA rules

Points will be awarded in the same manner as the SARRC Series. A competitor's six best races, plus points garnered at the SIC and then those awarded at the ARRC will determine the champions.
