What do you think about the Marauder?
Personally I love it
(in the same style that i love the 90's impala ss's and for the same reasons I like the 7 series) But I think it needs some more hp because its a really heavy car and from the articles ive read the 300hp is only motivating this car to 60 in about 7 seconds. Another thing is that it looks almost just like a Grand Marquis This isnt necessarily a bad thing, but it seems that they should have tried to vary the style more. But it looks bad monkeys all in black like it is!

Well, its a bad-ass type of car. But, it can't really handle, and straigh ahead, it aint so great either. So really, its not for me at all.
But, if your older, and remember the 'glory days', or you need to haul lots of people, its OK.

Re: What do you think about the Marauder?
redimpss5, i have to agree on the average buyers age. My dad picked one up in Feb. and he's 65.The car looks incredible, and has a great ride too. Performance and handling aren't bad at all, considering the size and weight of the car, but like previously posted it could use a little more Hp&TQ. He's done some modifications to the car, nothing major ( gears, maf, computer, t/b, ) but it really woke the car up.
I would love to own one, but it just wouldn't be practical. Danny

Re: What do you think about the Marauder?
The car performs very well considering it's size and weight.
It meets it's expectations, not that they are high. It also sells, but they missed the market by $4,000 plus. |

Re: What do you think about the Marauder?
It's looks like a souped up version of a late model Grand Marquis, with a shorter ass.

Re: What do you think about the Marauder?
I own a 2003 Marauder...I resent the inference that the car is for "older" folks....though I am 50.
I will be tweeking mine a bit.....looking into headers, performance mufflers and possibly a supercharger....that ought to kick the ponies to about 425! |

That's because it IS a souped up Grand Marquis. The greatest failure in my opinion is pricing it like a huge level above the highest trim Grand Marquis. The average customers who in the past payed for the Ultimate Package Marquis are not members of the 40 and under crowd. They will pay over $28,000 for the leather/electronic dash/abs/traction control 2v motor luxury car, maybe even the bucket seat floor shift package when it was available, but could care less about the $5000 premium for a 4V motor. The crowd who wants and can afford the 4V motor performance sees a Mustang Cobra in the same price range, and that is where the money goes. |

Re: What do you think about the Marauder?
id buy one if they upped the horse power... it sucks that ford cant keep up with the competition... and the competition ( 95-96 rwd impalas) does not even exist but if you took a 95-96 impala versus the BRAND new marauder it will still kick it ass!!! wake up ford !!!!

I have an '03 Marauder. Bought it in June of 03, at the age of 43. At first driving, yeah the power seemed a little low. But after a year and a half or so, and 13k miles, It seems to be breaking in just fine. Even spins the tires on a dead stop take off. I'm very pleased with the cars performance. If your looking for a car with oodles of hp then build a race car. Race cars aren't built to be driven on the street, although most ricky racers believe so. You don't need 450 hp in a street car, daily driver. One of the problems with today's drivers, not to mention inconsideration for other people on the road. 302 hp in the Marauder is plenty and the fact it doesn't downshift out of overdrive going up grades shows that. And of couse the plus of looking like a CHP gets a lot of people out of your way on the highway. If you haven't driven at least 500 miles in a Maruader, city and highway, you can't give a good opinion.

My neighbor owns two of these incredibly UGLY cars! This car is a muscle car for old, old, old men who are trying to hang onto there youth. Or were half blind when the dealer showed the car to them.

Re: Re: What do you think about the Marauder?
Obviously you are uninformed. I owned a 95 Imp SS, and I prefer my Marauder with 4.10 gears over it, better quality, and easily as fast or faster than the Imp. As for power, it puts out more hp per cubic inch than any stock Imp or Chrysler. More power is always better, but the MM is a great riding and handling car. Eats Ricers too!
