240sx with small block v8?

A friend was telling me about putting a small block into V8. All i would have to do is change my axle to 300zx or 350z axles and it would run about 13's. Is this possible? Is there any websites stating and information about this? I googled it so sending a link will be helpful. Thanks!

Re: 240sx with small block v8?

yep, drop that pig in there, i would recommend the ls-1 but shit, you might as well go with a crate engine or some shit, double pumper, 4 barrel, etc. fuckin muscle.

go shoot your friend and tell him he doesnt know shit.
change the axles? doesnt sound like he knows a thing about what hes talking about. 300zx axles? why would that make a difference when putting a v8 into a 240sx?

Re: 240sx with small block v8?

350ci 240s that are home built are shockingly slow.

300ZX Turbo Axles (ie the ones that are stronger) dont fit.

Re: 240sx with small block v8?

Want stronger rear end, you need the whole 300zx TT subframe. For the money of the conversion Any RB would be faster.
Whatever happened to that SHO car on ebay? Did SHO411* sell it?
Edit: Its still on Ebay, no bids (bidding ended).

Re: 240sx with small block v8?

It is amazing people putting V8's in 240's. People must really be cornfed!!!!!!!!! Why not just put a 250lb. lead weight in the trunk

he had a 400 small block in a z31. He complained it was slow. Ok now let me tell you why it was slow. Stock exhaust manifold, 30 year old stock carb, stock intake manifold, shitty exhaust, open differential, 205 sized tires, stock 700r4 transmission, stock torque converter.....

even I will admit that is slow. I think he was still running high 14's or something I have no clue.

He needed a new 4 barrel carb, inatke manifold, headers, posi, gears, wider tires, shift kit, higher stall converter, and a mandrel bent exhaust system. All that shit would have really woke up the car and into the 12's probably

A lot of people forget about traction in v8 swaps, and there is also a lot of time to be had with modifying the drivetrain. Sometimes the people put shoddy radiator jobs, crappy exhaust systems, especially downpipes...., shitty intake, open differntials... and it makes the car almost slower then it was in a camaro, waisting the weight advantage, and have even less horsepower.

if your gonna do it, you gotta do it right, and then its really badass.

so what your saying is that people swap v8s to have a stock fast motor for cheap, but then you say that they are slow and you have to spend a lot more $ to make them fast, also comprimising reliability.

seems utterly pointless to me

ill stick with a sr, ca, or ka-t

Re: 240sx with small block v8?

the key to a power in a bigger engine...IE ls1 is breathing...a new intake, headers and exhaust will wake up around 50+ hp...and everyone know 50+ hp is alot...that will improve your 1/4 by around a second or so..(with proper traction)...350 swap is alot of work...but 350s are reliable even under hp loads...parts are easier to come by and usually slightly cheaper...but an SR looks prettier with an FMIC....

ummm.. the Titan 5.6?? 305 HP and 379 TQ i think. i dont know how many parts are available for that but that would get you close.

i wish nissan made like a 7 Liter Turbo Diesel.

Re: 240sx with small block v8?

uhhh someone bring up the guy who had teh ls1 s14 plz....didnt he only run like a 12-13??? an sr with some minor mods can do that.....shit theres a stock ass sr with sidemount still, only thing is radiator and clutch, that runs a 13.4 around my town. The only way i would put an ls1 in is if i had one laying around, or i was super serious about drag racing or something. But who knows what else he had/hadn't done to it......i dont remember details.

There's a couple ls1 comaro's with the bottle hittin 10-11 second passes. Thats the only power adder. They are a damn good v8, ill give the credit.

[quote=SR20DETpower]The LS-1 really is a refined machine, its been in the making for 50 years, u can't say that about the VK56.QUOTE]

So an engine engineered in 2004 (or wtv) is less refined then one designed in the 50s?

Wtf...

THIS is the exact thread I hate 2nd most!! WHY? thats my only question!
Why does the 240SX have to be the V8 Whore? You redneck bitches need to find another car like a Cavalier...awww Chevy matched with Chevy how nice..yea it sounds good NOW GO DO IT! I meant this in the nicest way possible...I live in Oklahoma with my fair share of rednecks and they dont do V8 swaps into 240s..or Eagle TSis they jsut have big trucks and semi-fast camaros.

Re: 240sx with small block v8?

My stupidity? Hey fucker, I was saying that cause you know alot and could teach people there who have LS-1s instead of everyone here who would never put an LS-1 in their car, so think about what you say before you say it, asshole.
