Re: Ferrari combo WIP: scuderia vs challenge
Nice work!
The CM parts are a bit on the heavy side, a bit out of scale.

Re: Ferrari combo WIP: scuderia vs challenge
The spokes on the Fujimi's wheels are a tad thinner than on the 1:1 but the wheels definitely look better than the KA ones.

Re: Ferrari combo WIP: scuderia vs challenge
very well documented comparison between the two scuderia sasa...
now we wait for the buildup on the 2 scus! i think i'll opt for the fujimi kit still, because it's cheaper. hope we can see some other color besides red!? cheers!

Veyron you are absolutely right. Marc thanks and this one (fujimi kit) will be white (looks like black/red/white is my curse ) Jano after I took the chrome of they look good, very good. Robi, you must finish yours, that was my inspiration |

Terrific work Sasa
Your painting and detailing are developing into a class of their own. Great builds to watch coming together and kudos for taking the time and energy to make such detailed comparisons (although to tell the truth I'm lost as to which way is best - Fujimi or CM or...? )

I would say buy kit and nets in PE (but these from transkit will not fit, they are all to big), everything else is useless. |

Re: Ferrari combo WIP: scuderia vs challenge
I just want to point out that I have been working on about 4 Scuderias (the real ones) and for the wheels.. there are no difference except for the width of the tire and rim.. but for the spokes and all, it´s the same. Great project you have here. Looks really good. I´m problaby getting one of these myself, painting it in my favourite scheme, black/white stripes or the black/gold stripes =) // Rickard

Re: Ferrari combo WIP: scuderia vs challenge
on the real car, they are quite different.
The centre of the rear sits deeper in the wheel than the front. I'm tempted to say that the curve of the spokes are different too; with the rear starting more flat from the edge curving into to the centre and the fronts having a bit of curve out of the rim being going back in to the centre. In case that makes no sense: I think the spokes are passable in the Fujimi kit except they might be too rounded. I'd be tempted to sand flat the "face" of the spokes a little bit to give them sharper edges.

Re: Ferrari combo WIP: scuderia vs challenge
humm, something to ponder upon til my scuderia kit arrives from japan...
so the front & back rims are of different spoke depth...just how am i gonna mod the stock rims to look like this!? at most altering the rim dish a little backwards will look deeper only, but how to bend the rim 'spokes'? or has anyone with more than 2 different scuderia kits make a comparison of the stock rims provided, & see if the spokes are done in the same way? if they're different, then this issue could be solved by just exchanging 1 pair of rims from each kit & alter the width accordingly....how nice! if not, then more mod headache... hehe... (i was thinking of putting the rear rim into very hot water, then take it out & gently press the rim center & see if the rim spokes move a little backwards...but do it at your own peril!!!)

Re: Ferrari combo WIP: scuderia vs challenge
actually, looking at other photos, i think that the spokes are actually the same; the only difference in the wheels being how deep the centre of the wheel is.
if you imagine the spokes being hinged on the rim and in the centre, pull the centre in and the spokes will take on the slightly different geometry. Hmm, perhaps there is room for another transkit/parts kit for this after all.... hint hint

What the heck? Did you turn on the microwave with the body shell in it, or your hair drier got nervous? Anyway, a very sad state for a model. |
