?? about a throttle body mod thread
New to the site... i was reading a thread about a throttle body mod that was posted almost 3 years ago. It was said you can remove the deflector plate on the bottom of the throttle bodys butterfly plate. I have a 2001 s10 pickup 4wd. Just a few questions for someone who may have answers....
1.Any poor long term effects? 2.you remove everything but the rivots? 3.does it really gain a noticeable amount of horsepower? Also there is a thread about removing the screen from infront of the MAF.. does this do anything noticeable and does it have any nevgative effects? HELP ME OUT!! |

Re: ?? about a throttle body mod thread
I have done it.
1. Did mine 3 months ago, my truck still running nice. 2. Just cut the plate flush with the throttle blade, don't remove it. 3. No gain in power if you ask me, just better throttle response. 4. Don't mess with the MAF. Very expensive to replace if you kill it and the only time it is even advisable to remove it is when you go forced induction.

Re: ?? about a throttle body mod thread
Mine has been moded for well over a year now with no issues. The mod mainly increases throttle response but it does increase airflow once you get past 1/2 throttle since the deflector is now gone. Leave the black plate rivited on, just cut the deflector off (made of alluminum). As for the MAF sensor, leave the screen on as you risk damaging the sensor.
