2010 Mustang undercarriage color question
Hi,
New to the forums - thanks for having me! I'm building the Revell 2010 Mustang GT - while doing some reference photo gathering I ran across the shot linked below. Anyone have a source for or idea of what color that mid section is? Kind of a semi-gloss beige or tan but with a definite metalic tone. I also found some undercarriage shots that were simply black-ish - not sure the standard for the 2010s. Thanks for any suggestions! Daf |

It looks pretty close to Duplicor's Self Etching Primer. It does dry flat so a coat of semi-gloss clear would be needed.

Hey, that does look close - thanks! I'm going to see if I can find a can. Would the etching primer be too hot for plastic you think? Better try it on some scrap first...

Thanks again! Daf |

Re: 2010 Mustang undercarriage color question
It probably is too hot for styrene plastic without a coat of regular primer put down first. I airbrush it on metal parts. I think Autozone carries it.

Re: 2010 Mustang undercarriage color question
I agree w/ 935k3, if you use that definitely put down a primer on the plastic prior to using the etching primer. Its hot enough to etch metal for better grip, so I'd be kinda scared to see what it would do to bare plastic.
And yes, Auto Zone does carry it, I've purchased it there several times to use on my pickup. |
