Re: M3 (E30) by Beemax !!!

i ike how the hood is opened already. maybe hobbydesign can make E36 M3 engines to fit in there haha. or E39 M5 V8. would be cool to do crazy builds.

and maybe a non race interior

I prefer the native BMW S14 engine for this model.

S14 is the purists' choice, so you can bet your $$$ that HD will make one of those first. Or any of us could make one by cutting down a Fujimi EM or Tamiya M88 with the simplex timing chain.

But for a six-cylinder, why not go M88? They were frequently swapped into the e30 by German tuners in the 1980s. Also, a tuned M88/S38 has more potential for power than an S50, naturally-aspirated, due to displacement AFAIK.

Here's to swappin' I'm a Bimmer nerd for sure. With unlimited funds I'd definitely go s62. There's nothing quite like a BMW V8 (even If they do weigh a ton ). Thanks for the pics!

I'm glad it comes "already lowered" for us. Because racecar.

Nahhh...

I have an S50- it's great in my E36.

But I always liked that the E30 M3 was a 4cyl. It was an era when a great little 190hp engine could still be awesome- in a small car with perfect handling. I miss those days tremendously. The E30 M3 (together with the Lotus Elise) stands to me as a monument of what sports cars could/should be without all the pretentious crap that comes with ever more luxury, weight, and power.

True. It's probably easy for the younger generation to miss the point of the original M3. Although I'm a power junkie I'm also unimpressed with the way modern sports cars rely on electronic nannies to maintain civility. I couldn't own one on principle.

In full scale, I'm totally happy with my 4.6-swapped 540i. It needs less weight, not more power. But if I built my car in 1:24, well I'd get silly with the motor because it's fun to dream. Anyway, let's hope Hobby Design comes through with an s14 for us .

Not yet, nor is there any word on why. Beemax posted the final test shots on their Facebook page on 07/15 with the words, "Take me home!" at the top. Officially, all they will state is, "coming very soon."

One, you are all over this thread my friend

To guess, I would say Q4, or closer to the end of the year.
