Hit a deer

I hit a deer about an hour ago. The grill, headlight bezels and the structure behind the bumper is messed up. The radiator, front suspension, fan shroud etc are ok. I guess I'll be at the local boneyard looking for a few parts the next rainout day.
Will post a pic soon.

Re: Hit a deer

The grille clips in. The headlights clip in. The bumper cover can be removed to access/replace the bumper bar if it cannot be straightened Most if not all those parts are available new as aftermarket if you cannot find good used ones.

Did you keep the deer as a trophy?

Re: Hit a deer

No, it slid on the shoulder of the road on it's belly, stopped, shot me a bird then ran off into the woods.

Re: Hit a deer

Sounds almost like the deer that slid across my hood Dukes style back in the day. Only damage I suffered that day was a scuff on the hood from its hoof.

Re: Hit a deer

I know where there is a 92 Bravada the same color as yours is Everything up front is still origional, she got totaled after a tailender and couldn't see any damage to the front although the two cars she got driven into were totaled also. The Honda she hit folded up like an accordion.

And get this, I bought her a brand new Ford Fiesta and she hit a deer too. The car hadn't even made it to the first oil change. The insurance is covering it under comprehensive coverage and the deductible is only $100. The deer got away which is too bad, the roadkill laws in this state let you keep it and it doesn't count against your hunting tags or quota.

Re: Hit a deer

Wow, sorry to hear that. There needs to be a bounty on deer, they are way too plentiful. Before the leash laws, the neighborhood dogs kept them run out but now with nothing to annoy them, they're running rampant.
Thanks Eric, I'm interested in the front grill, side marker lights and fog lights. Who do I need to contact?

Re: Hit a deer

Got a used grill the same color then removed the old grill, bumper cover, airdam and the thin sheetmetal bumper. Been working on the thin bumper trying to get it right....it gives me a new respect for body workers. The front frame horn on the drivers side is bent too, whatta mess. Did a trial fit yesterday and this evening.....far from through.

Re: Hit a deer

Finally got the grill and bumper installed. The driver's side fog light was busted but found one off a near same year Pontiac Grand-Am....perfect fit!

Re: Hit a deer

I'm so jealous that your '92 is still on the road. My kids and myself have fond memories of Sylvester, the '92 that they all learned to drive in and loved.

Ya'lls loss of Sylvester hurt everyone, knowing the joy and good times with him. My family could give a rat's patoot about mine.
