Adjusting clutch on '96 Trooper
Anyone with tips on how to adjust the clutch pedal on '96 Trooper? Clutch does not engage until the pedal is quite aways down. Not sure if this happened suddenly or gradually as my wife drives this vehicle. Clutch still engages OK but pedal must be all of the way to the floor. I checked fluid and it was a bit low. Any help would be much appreciated!

Re: Adjusting clutch on '96 Trooper
I have a 1989 Trooper 4x4, 2.8 engine, the following is a description on how to adjust free play on my vehicle.
If you look at the pedal, there is a long adjusting bolt that connects to the Clutch master cylinder pump through the firewall into the engine compartment. There is a retaining nut, just loosen it and turn the large bolt like towards the right to increase the pedal free play and left to decrease the pedal free play. Do the adjustment in small increments! I would bleed the system before doing any type of adjusting. Hope this helps. Good luck! |
