My metro beat up a Honda Odyssey!
I was rear-ended this weekend by a Honda Odyssey that was itself rear ended by a Ford Explorer that pushed it into me. The impact was pretty strong , probably going 15 mph, and my Geo was thrust forwarded and sorta "bounced"/lunged forward. Thankfully, I didn't hit the car in front of me as it was too far, but out of the three cars in the accident, mine fared the best, it had no noticeable exterior damage other than a bent license plate and a few more extra scuffs to the already scuffed bumper due to the heave parallel parking area I live in. The two owners of the SUV were shocked. The owner of the Odssey had a bent hood, dislocated bumber and broken headlight! My Geo easily did $2000 to $4000 damage to the front of that car!
Looking under the bumper I do have some damage that isnt noticeable from the outside, the underbody frame was bent a little causing my spare tire in the back to bulge up through the hatchback floor, and I think my muffler was loosened as it rattles a bit. I'm having a nightmare dealing w/ the other party at fault's insurance but it's going to get fixed, estimate was only about $700 for the body work, I don't know if I'll need a new muffler but I'm also going to get an alighnment check. It is jus so remarkable that if you didn't know I'd been hit you wouldn't be able to tell! I always thought my Geo would be crushed if it got hit by as much as a shopping cart but I'm happy to see it's more resliant than I thought! Does anyone else out there have a similar anecdote? I'm so proud of my Geo that I'm planning on having it re-painted. As a joke, I might paint to look like a Mini Cooper (white top, white mirros and stripes down the hood!). I love my Geo! LM |

See? Nobody thinks a geo is capable of being safe in an accident. They're REALLY good in accidents. Suzuki spent a lot of time making sure you'd be safe in them. That's why it's the smallest street legal car in the USA. Because it passes U.S. DOT standards. Check out my convertible that hit a 4 foot thick concrete wall at almost 100mph..
