Fujimi Alpina B7 Turbo overview
That's crazy detailed kit. More than 200 parts.
Seems it will cost me LOT of my winter evenings Body molded in white, interior and engine parts in gray. Body parts include: body itself, chassis, front skirt and bumper, engine hood (two parts), radiator and hood mounting, trunk lid (two parts), rear spoiler and bumper Engine bay details: engine block, intakes and headers, turbocharger, plug wires, belts and pulleys, oil pan, transmission, radiator, brake master cylinder and fluid reservoirs isn't enough to go nuts? Wheel mounting assembly more complicated than in Tamiya kits. Wheels attach with bolts screwed into the hubs Spare wheel is fake (plastic) so tire have to be painted Should I use flat black to imitate rubber tire? Assembly instruction mostly in Japanese. Color spesifications given for Gunze Sangyo. Does anybody has Gunze color chart? I use Tamiya paints and need to match as close as possible p.s. Too much work ahead. Porsche 959 in half-painted state, 911GT3 coming close to finish. I don't think I will start soon with this Alpina but it looks to be exciting |

Wow! That sounds like a monster kit!!!
As for the Gunze colors, sorry, I haven't seen one. Maybe one of our pals in Japan or Hong Kong could help there... |

Engine almost comlete. Some parts are very hard to fit.
Tip: do not glue engine bearings to the engine before front suspension is ready. Better attach it together with suspension to the body Great thanks to Mikke for color chart. It very helpful I have no paint for iron-cast engine block. I mixed gun metal and gloss aluminium to match it. Timing chain housing and oil pan painted in aluminium. I even painted BMW logo on the top of the cam cover. Blue and white of course |

Parts fit poorly and need to be filed a lot. Plastic parts weak in sprue attachment points. I cracked windshild when detached it from the tree
The most annoying was lack of hole in rear suspension strut for control arm pin(!). Strut is too delicate part to cut square hole in it but I did it I spent whole night to construct rear suspension from this crap! Finally alignment looks awful and uneven. I will call it "self-leveling lowering" Interior parts have lot of fitting problems too. I didn't have such problems in Tamiya's recent kits NEVER BUY A FUJIMI! Model progress: all underbody parts prepared: fuel tank, struts, control arms, driveshaft and axles painted in semi-gloss black exgaust pipes in gun metal according to conversion chart muffler - silver aluminium rear diff. housing - silver 1:gun metal:1

It takes a good level of proficiency and experience to build these Fujimi enthusiast kits well, and there is a lot of work to be done on any kit not made by Tamiya!
But appreciate what model you have, a 635 BMW! No one does a kit like it, and if that takes a bit of work, it will be worth it! When you said you bought this kit I was instantly allerted to such an interesting subject! Don't give up, it will be a superb subject when completed! We all look forward to the pics of this one! |

In spite of my grumbling this is very interesting kit to do.
It gives me touch of creativity. btw wheel attachment much better than Tamiya's. It looks like in real car!

Mica Blue TS50 spray match it close, isn't it?

No, TS-50 will be well off!
They do a darker spray though, which is a deeper blue. Go with that! I don't know the code but you will see it! |
