unanswered posts

managed to pick up a 98 in fair shape, with most of the common problems...my main question is "why are there so many unanswered posts for the catera section ? " ,,, are there no moderators for this car ?? since i learn most of the common problems fixes thru these forums, this really bothers me.

Re: unanswered posts

The Catera is not a " popular" car here ( in the USA) and of course discontinued, as aformer GM employee, Cadillac division, I can say that we have very few people on the forum familiar enough with this car to give anything but basic info.

Re: unanswered posts

^^ I agree.

Also, it is not up to the moderators to answer questions. Any member can do that.

I never drove a Catera, but I drove the Opel that it was based on (in Europe) extensively. It is a terrific car, great performance and handling.

But the Cadillac division did a very poor job of marketing/promoting/selling the Catera. The typical Cadillac buyer had no interest in it, and the division had little expertise in attracting luxury import buyers to their brand. The BMW/Mercedes/Jaguar/Saab buyer generally would never consider a Cadillac, no matter how good it was.

All this combined with an utterly ineffectual advertising campaign ("The Caddy that Zigs")meant the Catera was not popular when new. Unfortunately, this has carried through to the used market, with very little enthusiasm about them used, so you find very few people are advising on them.

This is a shame, because they are otherwise great cars with few problem areas.

Re: unanswered posts

Part of the reason for few posts is because answerw to your thread do not come to your email box. That would bring people back to this site more often.

What do you mean here, it is not clear, are you saying that the replies should be PM'ed?
