Re: ZX2 Performance?

i also drive a 98 zx2... it was my first car with which i learned to race, shift, and handle a car. to be honest, i was never beaten by any civic i raced against and probably never will.

despite the low numbers, zx2's are an affordable, quick, and fun to drive car.

Re: ZX2 Performance?

First things first, when you decide to compare two vehicles, try to at least compare similar cars. The Honda Si model is not a base model like the ZX2 models were. These were never meant to be a performance car. It was supposed to be a sportier option for those people inclined to by the Escort platform vehicles. The hope was to get them interested in the mild increase in performance, keep Mazda happy (via contract), and hopefully get the Escort people interested in the newly designed Mustang.
Considering the ZX2 is often viewed as Ford's bastard step child, there are a surprising number of modifications that can be performed on the car. The ZX2's basic platform shares its chassis design with several other Ford and Mazda vehicles. The ability to cross-breed is what opened my eyes to the ZX2 as a possible performance vehicle.
Just like every other sport compact out there, they suck in their stock forms. Just like every other sport compact out there, what you can do to these cars is only limited by your imagination and pocket book.
The Ford Escort ZX2 is a fun car to drive. So are fat chicks and mo-peds. I don't mind being seen in a ZX2 though.
