2001 Accord EX... Disable Alarm
OK...my alarm goes off late at night...moisture, rain, humidity...I live in Portand, Or.
So I want to disable it... I am a student...later I will get the cash and get is fixed right, but for now... I just want to disable it...so I not walk the whole neighborhood up. So I have been told to disconnect the hood switch... some say..just unplug it and others say you need to short the connector with a jumper... 1. Does anyone have a picture of where the switch is near the hood latch. 2. Which method do I use ???? Ps....I am using my dad's log in to this forum... Thanks ... Dylan.... |

Re: 2001 Accord EX... Disable Alarm
Look along the area above the radiator, and for wiring leading into the latch in the middle. My Civics have a connector available.
Just disconnect for testing. (your alarm may not set though) |

Re: 2001 Accord EX... Disable Alarm
OK...thanks... I just want to disable it for now....so do i just pull the connector from the sensor... or do I "jumper" the connector with a wire. My understanding is that the system will think the hood is OPEN and not arm....

Re: 2001 Accord EX... Disable Alarm
When the hood is open the microswitch grounds the single line (Civic) so yes that line would need to be at ground to disable alarm from setting. (would think hood was open)
But, the hood latch may be what is triggering alarm, if you can find a connector inline with the wire leading to hood latch you could simply disconnect it for testing. |

Re: 2001 Accord EX... Disable Alarm
The hood switch is hidden in the latch.
The connector is just a single pin version of the others used throughout the car. Look for a single wire leading to hood latch... that will be it. |

Re: 2001 Accord EX... Disable Alarm
They should lock.
Do you have any indicator for when the alarm is armed ?? (06-15 Civics have a red light in the cluster) |
