'03 2500 w/ 10.5 AAM Axle ?
Hey all working on an 03 2500 gas-burner P/U with the 10.5 AAM rear axle. My concern is this: I received the vehicle with a rear end noise on decelleration. After examining the contact pattern it was obvious the rear had been recently rebuilt and looked to have excessive backlash between the ring & pinion. After ordering a new gear set from chrysler, im getting the same contact pattern as before (Pinion depth correct, backlash excessive). However, no amount of adjustments made will give me the contact pattern im looking for. Set it up like chrysler wants it and its smooth and quiet on accel, but VERY noisy on decel. I've checked, double-checked & rechecked my work to no avail. I have plenty of experience rebuilding and setting up rear ends but this baffles me. Any thoughts or insight would be well received and greatly appreciated. Thanks

Do you shim & set the pinion depth like the Dana 60's?
