wip: Amt 76 Nova - pro touring style

Hey guys,
thought i'd make a full thread since I hope to be done with this one soon, and I've got some progress pics with some good meat to them to show. this kit is the amt 76 nova, it shows a stock model on the box but in reality its a pro street car and is nowhere near being able to be built stock, I got this kit cheap cause I like the subject and decided to make do with what I had and try to make it look a little better....heres my pics

the motor is stock, but the risers on the intake where cut down, and the fuel rails, and related hardware were added for a switchover to efi, the airbox is the hood scoop modified with a scratched up box underneath and some cf decal. the wheels are some unknow fujimi rims I got a while back (anyone know which ones they are???) with some resin lips on the back(gotten from Marc Nellis - okiemodelbuilder) and painted metalizer titanium....any other questions guys have feel free to ask. Hope you like it...any comments are welcome.

Thanks
Gray

looks pretty interesting so far. I also like where this is going and will be following along. I'm with JT on the wheels thou, would suit another car better perhaps.

yes they were, those are the standard no back ones that come with alot of fujimi wheel sets...

thanks to everyone for the comments. I got the body painted this weekend, and will have some pics up soon of that. I'll start work on the interior tonight possibly and once the body is dried and polished some i'll get this thing together! looking forward to seeing it done...its not a fun kit to work on..lol

Re: wip: Amt 76 Nova - pro touring style

Looking good!!! Have you picked a color yet?

Don't listen to the naysayers...those rims are perfect. BTW I cast those brakes in resin if anyone needs some. I have two different sizes.

Re: wip: Amt 76 Nova - pro touring style

Actually Marc, yes I did...here it is..lol

The color is testors colors by boyd orange pearl shot over gray primer thru an airbrush, its also now my favorite color at the moment(well i've got a ton of HOK candy tangerine to use..so get used to the orange cars..lol). The paint job is a little rough in spots so I also tried to polish the body out some with my old old well used polishing kit(once used to polish the hinge pins on radio control cars) and that didn't turn out so well, and I had to touch up a few places. The hood while it is smooth may get some flat black paint, or some cf decal. The aluminum tape that some people on another board suggested as a decent replacement for bmf was also not in my favor last night and it looked so bad that I took it off(first time trying to foil anything, plus i think it looks better with body color trim, and when looking at pics of alot of these cars, most seemed to have body colored trim). Tonight i'll start on the chassis and interior and i'll work on modifying the front bumper so I can finish this one up and I can start on the next project

Thanks for looking
Gray

oh and so far as the wheels go..since this is a quick project that i'm practicing on, and i'm not trying to put much into it, I used a set of wheels that I didn't really like out of a box of about 20 wheel sets I got from japan a while back, I doctored them up a little bit and i'm happy with how they look..at least I didn't use a set of 80's Nissan 300zx wheels like I originally planned...lol

The color and the rims IMO go great with the car. Can't wait to see some more progress.
