Save My Neon!!
Ok so i drive a 96 dodge neon 4 door sohc and this thing was messed up from the get go as ive heard all these cars are. Anyway ive run into a problem that im skeptical about and i need HELP. My car will ride fine from 0 to 55 but when i hit 60 the steering column shifts to the right and the car sways from left to right at the rear making it increadibly hard to drive. From 70 to 80 and up the car seems to do just fine. i need to know wether the steering column needs to be shifted or if i need frame work. PLEASE SAVE MY NEON!!!

Try getting your wheels rebalanced and an alignment check.

Re: Save My Neon!!
Update for the problem... and i feel kind of silly. seems that my rear passenger side tire had a buldge in it causing erradic driveing. the tire eventually blew out (no harm to anyone) and upon replaceing it solved my problem.. hope this helps someone in need. check ur tires lol

Re: Save My Neon!!
Thanks for the feedback. Thats how the rest of us learn about symptoms and the problems that caused them.
If your car has a vibration at 73 mph - that is almost always one or more tires out of balance. If it shifts direction slightly when going from accelerating to decellerating - that is probably a bad tie rod end -( a really really BAD tie rod end!). |
