Re: Aoshima has a Supercar secret to share... its a M.....

I've got to be honest. I'm disappointed. If the Fujimi was full detail then I'd be okay with the Longtail, but now... oh well.

I was let down because 1) I was thinking that Aoshima would make a better kit than Fujimi (maybe not true given Fujimi's latest solid effort, the very nice Ferrari F12) and 2) I don't consider the F1 GTR Longtail a "supercar" as announced by Aoshima. A "supercar" implies an expensive, powerful road car. The longtail is a race car, not a supercar. So, Aoshima made two announcements - race and rally cars.

I wonder how the market will react.
I completely agree with you Bernard concerning point 1. I'm forced to preorder a Fujimi kit.
Concerning point 2 I'm not fully agree, because three production cars called McLaren F1 GT were built. Though you are right, Aoshima has introduced a race car.

Really people? Earlier in this thread there were complaints about why two companies have to make kits of the same car. Now we're complaining that we're getting both a road car and a long tail race version? After waiting 20 years for this to come out in plastic, I couldn't be happier!!!

My complaint is that I wanted the short tail race version. I'm sure Hobby Design or Studio 27 will release a trans-kit to turn the Fujimi McLaren into a GTR, just would have preferred it in plastic.

Yes, really. I'm glad we're getting plastic versions of the Mclaren, and I may even get the Longtail aswell. But to say I'm not disappointed would be a lie. I've waited a long time for a full detail F1 Mclaren Road Car, in plastic, and I thought my wait was over.

Re: Aoshima has a Supercar secret to share... its a M.....

Have some of you lost your minds? Really...we barely know anything about either the Fujimi and the Aoshima kits...the first variants of each...and we're already crying because we think that's it? That there won't be more variants coming? Really? Y'know, Fujimi and Aoshima are masters at bringing out a kit, and then countless variations.

Be patient. I'm sure you'll get what you want eventually.

Even if that might mean purchasing from Model Factory Hiro.

Suddenly we're getting not one but two different plastic F1's, and instead of it being good news, it's

Don't worry, guys in the US are just the same when it comes to American cars...announce a new model, it's never enough. "I demand they make the esoteric old boring sedan that I want, because I can't afford resin and am on disability and food stamps, so Revell/AMT/Moebius must invest $300,000 to make a boring old model of a boring old car that I want so I can pay $10 for it at Walmart" mentality. Another day in the hobby

I don't see anyone crying. I've still pre-ordered the Fujimi Mclaren, and like I said, I'll probably get the longtail aswell. Doesn't mean I can't be disappointed.

I hope you're right about the variants, I really do. But we shouldn't have to resort to buying the MFH version.

I guess the wait goes on.

Re: Aoshima has a Supercar secret to share... its a M.....

The question for me will be depending on liveries, how many of these McLaren F1's will I get? It could end up like my Porsche 956 group currently featuring five different versions of the same car.

They should have come out with it a long time ago. The Mclaren has lost a lot of it's luster since the 90s in my opinion. Still cool that they finally made it.

Yeah. Great news. Lets hope Studio27 or Tabu release the Gulf/Davidoff decal set. Great news. Although i have the Studio27 Zuhai Mboro and the MFH Bigazzi, i still want this one. If only somebody would release a good street version, because the Fujimi doesn't look that great to me.

Re: Aoshima has a Supercar secret to share... its a M.....

Aoshima says it will be released "later this year 2013" so they probably have a final design at this point. Let's hope they decided to go the complexity route to differentiate from the Fujimi offering with some nice suspension and drivetrain detail.
