Interiror Courtesy Lights

95 Cutlass Supreme. Interior courtesy lights have a mind of their own. Sometimes never go off, other times works as designed. Anyone know where the timer/relay is located for the lights?

Re: Interiror Courtesy Lights

Are you saying this:

Lights are out, you open the door, then close it and the lights remain on?

Or,

You are driving along and the interior lights just come on and stay on?

If your "A" pillar door does not have the old style push in interior light switch, then you have the interior light switch integrated into the latch assembly......could be any latch, depending on how many doors you have(2 or 4 door).....

Re: Interiror Courtesy Lights

2Dr. Open door, courtesy lights come on. Take off down the road, the may go out once you put it in gear, or stay on 20mins. Same thing shutting it off. Lights come on opening the door. Close door, lights may stay on 2-3mins, or 20mins. It is push in switch. But this is the loaded model. Lights would normally stay on a few minutes, but now sometimes they stay on for 20mins or more. I now its the entire circuit. Footwell, overhead, rearview mirror lighting.

Re: Interiror Courtesy Lights

First thing I would do is, disconnect both push switches and tape the wires so that they don't ground.....interior lights should be off.....should come on when you operate your dimmer control.....drive the vehicle around and see if the problem is fixed.....if it is, one of the switches was bad.....reconnect one at a time to determine which was bad.....

Re: Interiror Courtesy Lights

Thanks for the tips. Drivers door switch is a 2pole and passenger side 1pole. Since only $4, got the 2pole locally. They didn't have the 1pole in stock. So replaced the 2pole, no luck. Pulled the 1pole and cleaned it up for better contact. Replaced and all is back to normal. Thanks again.

It's under the passenger side kick plate that is mounted under the dash. Not the doorside kickplate. There is a plastic relay block right below where the Heater fan motor is mounted. Its on that block along with the door lock relays.
