Determining gas remaining in the tank

A friend of mine is about to start letting others borrow her car on a regular basis. They are supposed to return the car with the tank full.

The problem is that the fuel gauge reads full even if they are 1/2 gallon to a gallon short. Is there any way to determine (and display) an accurate read of the amount of gas in the tank from the car computer or somesuch?

The car is a 2009 Toyota Yaris.
