B16a2?

If the B16A2 comes in the 99-00 Si, then woudn't the Del sol have a B16A2 also since it's the same motor, even the compression is the same.
Then does that mean the 1st gen JDM B16 (88-91 SiR 160Bhp 10:2) and the 2nd gen JDM B16(92-95 SiR II 170bhp 10:4) are both just B16A1 engines? I'm just trying to make since of it all.:smoker2:

Well im to lazy to merge the threads, so Ill answer it here.

Have a read of the sticky post at the top of the forum, it will explain some of the differnces between the two JDM engines.

All the B16a's use the same block, pistons, crank and head. There are some differnces in Valve springs, and materials used in the valve train, but they mean nothing.

All the hp differnces come from differnt cam designs, Compression ratios, Exhaust manifolds, and ECU programs.

So you can take a USDM B16a with 160hp, and raise the compression, fit a set of JDM cams, JDM Headers, and a JDM Exhaust and have 170hp.

The Differnce in the USDM B16a2 and a3 are as far as I know meaningless, and only refer to differnt emissions crap put on them, and the differnt years they were manufactored.

Anyway, the mildest cams come from the European b16a from the EF9 VTi Civic, then the B16a in the JDM EF9 SiR Civic, then the USDM B16a2 and a3, then the JDM B16a from 92 onwards, then the B16b from the Civic Type-R has the wildest cams.
