water based metalic silver! can i wet sand to smooth finish before clear?
hi guys im new and my name is dave! i have refinished my bonnet, using metalic siver water based paint problem is i want to flatten it to give another coat of paint due to dirt on the surface! is this possible and can i wet sand using water once cured! 2k was much easier lol thanks in advance

I have not used enough water borne yet to give any advice. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Ive never used it either, but i've heard once cured you can water sand like any other paint.

No.water based paint,should not be water sanded. may i ask what kind of water base paint line you are using.also did you use a waterbase dryer?

That is not necessarily true. Waterborne base coats can be wet sanded in between clearcoating. Of course you have to careful not to saturate the panel in water, but lightly wet your 1000-grit or whatever you choose to use. You need to thoroughly dry the panel before doing so. I've done it, I've sprayed it, and PPG trainers for classes also have agreed it is acceptable. Personal opinion is one thing, the truth is another.

PPG Envirobase. Yes I use stand-mounted venturis. There are varying opinions on this. It is also possible to use the solvent-based(not water-based) wax/grease remover as a lubricant. Let me say that this is possible with PPG. I can't elaborate on other manufacturer's waterborne base material. I should not have said waterborne base in general. What product do you use Pac man?
