ok!
k OK! but doesn't it just piss you off when people think they know what they are on about when you get someone like me waiting in the wings who obviously knows more.People should not automatically think they know more than someone else who they havn't met!
agree or disagree?

Don't remember you watching it run in Tulsa
Yeah, I looked at the marketing hype on the website just like you too. However, I watched the car run in both the road racing and drag racing and it was NOT impressive. Maybe they were running their base model - who knows, but what I do know is that it ran in the 13's on the drag stripe no matter how much "good shit" it had under the hood.
Seeing is believing....and one shouldn't always believe what they read on a website.

OK, spark plug, you're mistaken on the "Gone in 60 Seconds" car tech shite. There were a baker's dozen Mustangs, most with either 289s or 302s, one or two with a 351W and, as for the sound effects, it was a real 427 side-oiler with side pipes making all those lusty rumblings. Oh, and there was one real Shelby GT500, the rusted 'Stang Otto was working on at the end of the movie, which Jerry Bruckheimer had restored and built up like Eleanor for his personal collection. And from what I hear, he's scared to drive it...

ok who here has honestly driven a GT 500, i think that i would be one of the few and sorry but whoever was driving that 500 at the drag strip must not be a very good driver because i drove my boss's that had 38000 original miles and is in mint condition, yea its alot quicker than any credit u've given it Wings. and about that stock 429, i be doubtin its real, no offense to your judgement but a gt 500 can run a quarter in the least 8.5

Re: Re: Gt500e
[quote=joemartins]No offense Corn Dog, but I haven't seen many non-alcohol muscle cars capable of anywhere near 8.5 seconds in the quarter mile. You'd need a hell of a lot more than 750 horsepower (that's the total horsepower of a Shelby Super Snake GT500E with it's NOS powershot engaged) to dip into the 10s and 9s, let alone the 8s!
This is mustangwizard and at this years Midwest Shelby meet in Tulsa Okla. in June, a guy with a 1966 Ford Falcon with a Iron 427 stroker motor with 1 -4 barrel carb ran an 8.36 at 162 MPH!!! |

Re: Gt500e
OK, I will try to clean up what spark_plug hasn't already. First of all, Carroll Shelby and Sanderson Sales are producing a limited number of GT500Es. The base model has a 302 motor. The middle model has a 351 motor. The Super Snake as a 427 motor (With optional Vortech blower). All the cars are 1967 and 1968 Fastbacks, NOT Shelbys. If you have any questions, post up!

OK I have written in many magazines about these cars so please listen to me. Sanderson had some involvement in the beginning. HE AND HIS COMPANY NOW ARE IN NO WAY ASSOCIATED WITH UNIQUE PERFORMANCE OR SHELBY AMERICAN. Lets just say the relationship ended badly over 2 years ago. the GT 500E is produced by Unique Performance with Carroll Shellby. I have driven all 3 varients up to the Super Snake which will leave your eyeballs a block behind your skull. It is equipped with NOS but it is not hooked up. there is no reason for it to be and in some states it is Illegal so.... Also they are building up "Rescued" mustangs. I wrote an article in issue 4 of Automobile Quarterly where i asked Shel what he had to say about the folks who say they are not real shelby's simply his responce was "I Don't give a *%*(*&^(*^ what anyone says the only %#$^%$ person who can say what the@*$@* a shelby is is me. any one else can go to hell" |
