S197 mustang 8.8 housing question

I have a question for anyone with an 05+ mustang.
I am thinking about using one of these axles in a swap and would be 4-linking the axle.
I know that from the factory there is a link cast into the housing.

Can someone please check if the housing is smooth under the cast in link or if cutting it off will create a hole in the axle housing.

If you could post up a picture of the inside it would really be helpful.

Thanks!

I would cut it just above the housing, leaving a slight bump. I have seen the inside and it is solid, no picture though. Sure you don't want to leave it and go with an upgrade? I hear a chrome moly setup is pretty fine for getting out the slop. Here is a link to one. This is just an example, you can search for other brands and do your own comparisons.

It's going in a jeep, so I will be starting with a completely bare axle and welding on all the brackets I need.

In the 78+ f150 front axles, the spring wedges for the arms were cast into the axle tubes, and there was no tube below if you cut them off. I wanted to make sure that ford didn't repeat history and leave the casting hollow for some reason

Thanks!
