1/12 Tamiya Fairlady 240ZG Street Custom

OMG!

Just spotted on a News release from HLJ.
Tamiya are to re-release their 1/12 Datsun 240ZG with "custom parts".
Expected release is July by the looks of it. I also looked it up @ http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10271331 where they had some extra info..
As per their quote...
I took the liberty to bold the parts that caught my eye.

Quote:
Reproduced in 1/12 scale its unique appearance. Including 8-spoke wheels RS Watanabe was made popular item at the time, rear spoiler, strut tower bar and twin carburetor, plus etching or the like made seat belt fittings and metal air funnel further. I was brought up even more attractive by the addition of equipment typical of tuning at the time.
Guess I'm going to have to order another one to add to the 3 that I already have.

Now wanting them to release the rally version as well. Preferably as the Monte or RAC version. And maybe a Dunko version Will go with my other 1/12 scale versions.

I have so excited with the news, I've been motivated me to do a recreation of how it could be the boxart. LOL

Oh man, I LMAO when I saw that photo. I LOVE it.

I searched the net looking for "spy" shots for what it might look like with no luck, your rendition made my day.
IF Tamiya can make it look half as kool, I will need more than 1 more.
Well done mate.

Hi Stump, thank you very much dear friend for your comments. I'm glad you liked my proposal for the Box art. I guess someone soon publish some photos from Shizuoka Hobby Show 2014, and can delight us with some photos of the 240ZG.
Imagine if my proposal came at the hands of Mr. Tamiya, and well liked? Wooooohhh!!!

Incidentally, I am a follower of your great work. You do awesome things!

Kind regards from Spain

Ed

Excellent box art sir, well done! Esta bien!

I must say, I will probably get 3 of these should it come with watanabes. You can't beat a 240z!

1/12 Devil Z anyone?

That is really inspirational box art. Lets hope Tamiyas' kit can match the look.

Re: 1/12 Tamiya Fairlady 240ZG Street Custom

Thank you Ed for your very kind comment mate.

Just as a FYI guys, at this moment on eBay is a trans-kit to make these big Datsun's LHD.
Offered by http://www.bestbalsakits.com/tamiya/home.asp through their ebay store @ US $48.60.
3D designed (and printed I guess?) it includes LHD dash, plus the correct LHD steering rack.

Re: 1/12 Tamiya Fairlady 240ZG Street Custom

OK... first pics are in of this kit and I'm thoroughly disappointed.
Many places listed it as a modified reissue of the 240Z kit, unfortunately, but as expected its actually the same old ZG kit.

The new Watanbe's look to be very skinny and appear to fit the stock original (185R ?) tyres .

Most other parts look to me like they are from or similar to the Rally kit.

EDIT: I just noticed that there are triple carbs and 6 metal intake trumpets shown in the top left of the first pic.

At least I'll be saving myself a couple of Hundred dollars.... and its not like I really needed a fourth 1/12 240Z.

Regards, Dan

There goes my plan for a 1/12 Devil Z!!

Seems like we need to get the powers that be to make a front end transkit!

Re: 1/12 Tamiya Fairlady 240ZG Street Custom

Thanks for the added pics Dan.
Even though they (Tamiya) appear to have skimped on the wheels, I'll still be adding another to my line on the bench.
I really am a sucker for this kit.
