1997-2004 Ford F150 4X4 Inoperative In Depth Diagnosis
I have been getting allot of questions about how the 4x4 system works on this vehicle and how to troubleshoot it especially with winter coming up. This video covers getting the front axle to engage.

Re: 1997-2004 Ford F150 4X4 Inoperative In Depth Diagnosis
I had pinging caused by a Bosch spark plug that lost the center metal of the electrode. It looked like it still was sparking a little through that huge gap. So I would lean toward new plugs and wires as a first check. Then I would get a can of MAF cleaner and spray clean it. Brian that did the above video has videos for changing spark plugs and MAF cleaning on Youtube, just search for them, they can be very helpful.
