1999 RR Coolant Leaks, Any Help?

I have a 1999 Range Rover which has only done genuine 47k miles, during routine servicing dealer informed me I had coolant leak from thermostat, two thermostats later, they are now saying that I have 2 x hoses gone, I took my vehicle to local garage, where he alarming said its the block that is cracked, is this possible on such a low milage vehicle? or is there anything else I could check before lining the pockets of these garages? any help would be gratefully received. ps I not mechanically minded so could you keep it simple for me, cheers Chris.

hi 99 range rovers dont suffer from cracked blocks you would not be able to tell with out stripping heads off i would have thought the worst it could be id the head gaskets but at the milage thats unlikely does the engine over heat or are just suffering from leaks if just leaks i would flush out cooling system first best flush is the same stuff you would flush out your own rads at home hoses are more than likely getting hard changing these is a good idear let me know how you get on many thanks carl

coolant leaks

land rovers have a common problem with different coolant leaks
intake gaskets blown out (external leak)
cyl. head gasket leaks (external leak)
crack between cyl. block and cyl. liner(internal leak)
head gasket blown between two cyl.(internal leak)
If external leak you should be able to see coolant stains
If internal leak you will smell coolant burning out exhaust most likely when first started depending on how bad the leak is.
