SUp guys, I was wondering ....

Sup everybody, I have a 1995 Eagle Talon ESI. I was wondering what you guys think about swaping a v6 under my hood (A v6 from a 2000+ Eclipse). Is it ALOT of trouble ? How much money ill need you think ?
Is there a better way to get my ESI fast ?

Thanks for your time
(btw I am not posting on the eagle forum because its dead :P)

Re: SUp guys, I was wondering ....

you'd probably be better of just getting a turbo kit for your talon. it would probably be alot cheaper because once you swap out the motor which will probably be around 5 grand+ for the motor and installation, you still will only have 205 hp and then you will have to spend more money on that to make that faster.

Turbo your existing motor. More horsepower, less money, alot less hassle. Simple as that.

Re: SUp guys, I was wondering ....

IF you have the money, i dont' see why you wouldn't go w/ a JDM 2.0l V6 Mivec system from the FTO w/ FTO mounts and stuff, if your doing that much work why not do it right? the mivec does 200hp at a high revving 7500 rpm and are well known for reliability, and they are much easier to tune, not only that, but u can tell all ur friends u have a jdm motor under the hood....:-P

by all rational means, go w/ turbo, its much easier

Excuse-me, what is a JDM 2.0l V6 Mivec ? the problem with turbo is that my engine has already 120000 miles (190 000 km) and I dont think it would be all that great to turbo an engine that is so old :S

Ill think Ill just try to sell it and get something else, I really love the look of my car But Im stuck, I dont know how to get it fast :S

Re: SUp guys, I was wondering ....

for all the $ and problems you'll encounter changing engines/ecu, why don't you just get your engine rebuilt, punched out, better internals, and tuned? that way you won't be buying another engine you don't need and you'll start with a "0" mile engine again and have everything internally already for any future high hp mods you might make in the future?

Re: SUp guys, I was wondering ....

i don't think ANYONE wants an talon w/ that many miles w/o it being given to them...

the mivec engine is like...Mitsubishi honda style, basically its the engine they have in the FTO GPX over in japan, the fto and the eclipse/talon have the same frame, so putting mounts in wouldn't be impossible....but really

go w/ the bulletproofing and turbocharging, that way if someone looks at the odo and knocks ur car, u can leave them in ur dust

Yeah well the problem is that my engine is a 420a, its not even made by Mitsubishi. You think there is enough aftermarket to build it correctly ?
Everybody tell me that this engine dont worth shit, If I bulletproof it, I know ill be able to boost it way more but will the engine be more reliable to ?

Btw, Anyone know where I could buy a Jdm fto engine ?

Google for the jdm fto engine if nothing i can scrounge something for u

there are plenty of aftermarket parts, i'd go to dsmtuners.com and see what they suggest and 2gnt.com? or net...maybe org they've got stuff too
