Automatic Transmission Death Last Night..Looking For Manual Tranny
Well my auto tranny went out on me last night at 116,459 miles. I am now curious how much a auto to manual conversion is going to cost. My question is where can i find a new or used manual transmission online? Is anyone selling one on here or possibly 3si that you know? Where is a good used 3000gt website? I DONT KNOW WHERE TO START, although i have read all forums and FAQ on this site. Please help

A) there is a section in the FAQ about the ATX to manual swap, also talk to Twisted...as he did it (I think) and should be able to provide you with all the details.

sometimes if you search on ebay motors they have rebuilt transmitions, but that's the only place I'd know of besides a mitsu dealer, which is going to be WAY over priced.

Re: Automatic Transmission Death Last Night..Looking For Manual Tranny
You start by searching for and buying everything you need, which is listed in the FAQ.
I just saw an AT to MT conversion kit on Ebay a week or two ago, which is what I bought when I did mine. Your best bet would be to watch Ebay, something will pop up, I waited a good month before mine did and got a great deal. If not that, call all of the junkyards that you're willing to go to, visit www.car-part.com which is a site where all the junkyards list what they have, and you can search your area using the site. There a few different cars that use the F5M33 transmission (the one you want). Eclipse/Talon/Laser FWD Turbo, 94 DOHC Galant, 92-96 Diamante DOHC, obviously Stealth (doesn't matter SOHC/DOHC)...man it's been almost a year and I still have it memorized, shows how much I searched! Finally unless you're looking to keep the car till it dies, buy a rebuilt automatic, it'll cost about the same as converting and its a LOT less work, and then you can sell and buy a MTX if you must. The car is a lot quicker w/ MTX but it's still not enough for me, but thats me. It's definitely good for experience though.
