Question 86 chevy caprice classic

need to know #1 pug on distruber to start firing order for wires. nothing was marked or replaced when taking on project. any infomation about why car won't start would be helpful. started running sluggish & stalling. would do good on a highway stretch, but stop and go wouldn't cut it. trying to replace wires & plugs. but can't get placed properly to try and start car.

Re: 86 chevy caprice classic

Should be straight out to the back of the carb. The firing order is cast into the intake manifold (if it's stock).

Should be 1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2

have the fireing order, have the timing on the mark apparently, there's not a strong enough spark. can't seem to get the spark strong enough to get started...

Be sure to have a fully charged battery on hand, and check the coil connection(s). Sometimes, the coil ends get bent up and it only appears you're connected.

Even if the coil screws penetrated the cap, it should at least "try" to start.

Let us know how it goes

there was not enough spark to fire up. had coil tested. tested bad. bought a new one. car is trying to turn over but still not a full start. but more of a possibility than before...not sure of a next step...

discovered that the oil is full of gas. dropping the oil pan now and changing oil. from there i'm guessing to start with basics and verify they're all working adequately.

Re: 86 chevy caprice classic

All you need to do is drain the oil/change the filter and refill.

You need to pull all the plugs (at once), and hold the throttle open and crank for about 20 seconds (clear out the raw gas from the cylinders).

Either clean or replace (I'd replace) the spark plugs.

Button everything up and hit the key.
