Angry 93 chevy caprice classic/starting problems

[color=yellow]Have had continual problem with 93 caprice. Car always starts. After I drive it for awhile and then turn it off, it will not start, especially when the weather is warm. After it sits for anywhere from 1 to 4 hours, depending on the temp outside, it will start back up again. I have replaced 6 starters already in the past 16 months. This is not the problem! I heard it could be the fuse box under the hood where the main battery feed is bolted is overheating. Any feedback? Please help!!

I don't know if this applies to your vehicle, but is there supposed to be a heat shield installed to block radiated heat from the exhaust manifold? An overheated starter has very high electrical resistance. Check another similiar make and model to see if it has or had a heat shield. If it were my car, I'd install a heat shield. They're fairly cheap to buy. The dealer partsman should be able to tell you what fits.

Re: 93 chevy caprice classic/starting problems

It does sound like the heat shield is missing.
