Ford Escort RS1800 MkII - Italeri 1/24

Hey people...
Anyone seen this?
Is it the same moulds as Revell/ESCI kit, i wonder?
Is it me, or is the rally scene finally getting the attention it deserves the last year or two?
Hope there's more!

Yes it's the same woeful kit mouldings by Esci. Nice photo on the box however.

Only positive is that it might sober up some of the ridiculous ebay prices and hopefully spawn a half decent transkit or two.

For the purests the rear wheel arches are above the waistline so the early Ford colour schemes are not accurate.

The car is totally inaccurate for the livery depicted !!
they are thousands of possible MK2 liveries and they've chosen one among only three liveries that had large tarmac fenders !!!!??

Yes it's the same kit, so it's the same debate : wrong fenders (even at the front), wrong rims, wheels located too much inside the body, wrong seats for most of the works cars, thick clear parts, front grille needs to be modified...and so on and so on...In fact the kit is inaccurate for ANY version But anyway a good basis. Reminds me so much of my youth (OMG the Rothmans boxart) <3

but for 22.50€ is it a good base to make a good car,and good builders can do this.

You're totally right. Despite 90% of the built models I've seen on the web or at shows these last 10 years are mostly OOB. Tamiya made rally modelers lazy !

Indeed... that is why I used the past
But they were certainly the best rally kits ever : well conceived, easy to build, amazing look once completed, even OOB.
Maybe the good results of the Yaris WRC will motivate them ?
Reissue of the Sierra 2drs in rally version would be fantastic too !
Or a new kit of an old group B (RS200 ?)...

Dreaming is not a crime
