ram 1500
Hello evaryone, I have a 97 1500 4x4 The tranmission was acting funny yesterday it would down shift into second at 60 mph.It did not want to shift out of first correctly then the Od light came on and it would not go in to OD. And had a bad smell one i got to the house could this be a converter issue or is it the whole transmission. I let it cool and it started shifting like it was supposed to problems only occur when it is warm any suggestions??????????

Re: ram 1500
Make sure you dont or havent overheated the tranny. Check the fluid level and condition. Heat is the worst thing for a tranny. If you say it runs better after cooling that might already be your issue. I had the misfortune of cracking the oil cooler housing for the tanny so it mixed with the coolant and that was all she wrote (this was in a GMC though).Mike.
